Kalkaji election result LIVE: Atishi now leading over BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri

BJP MP Yogender Chandolia spoke to reporters and said, “I thank the people of Delhi for listening to PM Modi’s appeal… Kejriwal has collapsed in all models… It is confirmed that Kejriwal will go to Tihar. He wanted to be the CM but he is not even going to be an MLA anymore… Any party worker chosen by the party high command will be the next CM of Delhi.”

Delhi CM Atishi is trailing behind in the Kalkaji assembly constituency by a margin of 2,800 votes. Ramesh Bidhuri is leading with 21,519 as of 11:18 am, as per the data from the Election Commission.

Social activist Anna Hazare reacted to the trends suggesting BJP’s victory in Delhi and said, “I have always said that a candidate’s conduct, thoughts should be pure, life should be without a blame, sacrifice… these qualities let voters have faith on him. I told this (to Arvind Kejriwal) but he did not pay heed, and finally, he focused on liquor… why did this issue raise? He was overwhelmed by money power.”

Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit told ANI, “As of now it seems that they (BJP) will form the govt… We raised the issues but I think people thought that we are not going to form the govt – we accept the decision of the people.”

BJP MP Dinesh Sharma spoke to ANI and said that this assembly election in Delhi was not just the capital’s, but for a change in the politics of India.

“When the Yamuna river gets cleaned under the leadership of the BJP government in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal will get an opportunity to take a dip in the river which he could not take during his tenure… These were not just Delhi’s elections. This was an election for a change in the politics of India… Now the Opposition will cry that EVMs were rigged or will run to form another alliance,” he said.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva told ANI that all the big faces of Aam Aadmi Party, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Atishi, are the “face of corruption”, adding that they will lose the Delhi election.

“We welcome the trends but we will wait for the results. We believe that people have voted against corruption in an election which was centred around BJP’s good governance versus AAP’s bad governance,” he said.

BJP has taken the lead on 41 seats while the Aam Aadmi Party is ahead in 29 seats, according to data from the Election Commission of India.

BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party and said that the national capital is getting ready for a double-engine government.

“If you are dishonest with the public, then the public will give a similar result. Under the leadership of PM Modi, double-engine government will be formed in Delhi,” Sachdeva said in his apparent jibe at Arvind Kejriwal.

BJP leader Nalin Kohli told ANI, “The trends which are coming – show that the people of Delhi are no more with AAP… There were two models before the people – BJP’s model that it fulfils all the promises it makes in Sankalp Patra whereas AAP does nothing but talk.”

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that his party will win at least 50 seats as the people of the capital city are bracing for change.

“We are very confident…The BJP will win at least 50 seats. The people of Delhi want change… They regret that they brought AAP-da which turned Delhi into an ‘aapda’ (disaster)… Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations that his candidates for offers of ₹15 crores, this shows that he has already accepted his defeat…” Sirsa told ANI.

As the 4th round of counting in Kalkaji is underway, BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri is ahead of Delhi CM and AAP’s Atishi by a margin of over 1,635 votes.

BJP Kalkaji candidate Ramesh Bidhuri is racing ahead of Delhi CM Atishi in the assembly constituency.

He attributed the lead to the people’s desire for development, which he claimed has been lacking under AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.

Bidhuri said he is not just focused on winning, but also on serving the public.

“This lead (from Kalkaji) is the blessing of people of Kalkaji. Kejriwal has done no work in Delhi in the last 10 years. I believe aapda is going and BJP will come to power…We are here to serve the public, not for any position like CM,” Bidhuri was quoted by ANI.

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “I believe we should wait for final results and I am certain that they will be more favourable for us. The trends suggest that the policies of BJP, under the leadership of PM Modi… the poor and deprived sections are showing faith on Modi guarantees,” he told PTI.

BJP leader Radhika Khera expressed confidence in her party’s win saying, “The lotus will bloom and the BJP will form the government.”

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told reporters that she has not yet checked the results.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari noted that the BJP is way ahead of AAP in the trends, adding that “I believe that we will have an even better tally than this.”

“Every section of Delhi has turned away from AAP. This can be seen in the trends. Inaction shown by AAP and corruption – are the reasons why they have lost the people’s support,” he added.

Union minister Jitan Ram Manji, speaking to reporters in Patna, said, “BJP is not just being shown ahead. It is ahead and it will remain ahead… Congress has been crying since the beginning that there is a problem with the EVMs or the voter list.”

AAP Patel Nagar candidate Parvesh Ratan told PTI that getting anxious as vote counting takes place is “natural”. However, he exuded confidence that his party will win.

“I stood with everyone during times of happiness and sorrow in the last five years. I did whatever I could. I have received a lot of affection from the people, and I feel they will give an opportunity from Patel Nagar,” he added.

BJP New Delhi candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh’s brother Siddharth said expressed confidence in the BJP and said that the party’s hard work will definitely lead to its victory in the national capital.

Speaking with ANI, Singh said, “I am very confident (of victory) and this confidence comes because of all the activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the failure of Arvind Kejriwal. The people have given their decision on the 5th and today, we will see that BJP government is going to be formed in Delhi after twenty-seven years.”

Congress candidate from Kalkaji assembly constituency Alka Lamba said, “Delhi will not forgive the culprits of Delhi… I don’t who is at advantageous position and who is facing the loss; those who damaged Delhi – it’s their loss.”

BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar said, “The voters have put Arvind Kejriwal’s corrupt government in place. BJP’s victory will ensure a fast development of the country’s capital.”

Union minister Jitan Ram Majhi spoke to reporters and said, “Congress has already started saying that there is problem in EVMs and voter lists. They will surely make such excuses.”

BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia said that the people of Delhi have shown faith in PM Narendra Modi’s guarantees, adding that they want “double-engine government”.

BJP Kalkaji candidate Ramesh Bidhuri said he is confident that the Aam Aadmi Party will be “eliminated” from Delhi.

Bidhuri is currently leading from the seat, while AAP’s Atishi is trailing.

Bidhuri said, “The people will give the BJP a decisive mandate. Under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, Delhi will progress along with the rest of the country. I can confidently say that the AAP will be eliminated from the national capital.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party is ahead on 40 seats while the Aam Aadmi Party is trying to narrow the gap by taking the lead on 30 seats, show early trends.
