16-year-old on eighth floor to shoot sunset pics falls, dies

Mumbai: A 16-year-old class 10 student, who was awaiting her IB exam result, lost her life after falling from the eighth floor terrace of Parichay Building in Dahisar (east) on Sunday.The Dahisar police reported that the incident took place at 7 pm when the girl, Jhanvi Savla, went to the terrace to capture photographs of the sunset and is believed to have accidentally slipped from the edge. She was the only child of the Savla couple.Residents in the building premises noticed Savla fallen and immediately informed her parents. “The girl died due to an accidental fall. Our investigation does not indicate anything suspicious. She was expecting her board exam result. She lived on the seventh floor and had gone to the building terrace after informing her father Samir,” said senior inspector Ashok Honmane of Dahisar police station.Her father has stated: “My daughter said that she wanted to take sunset photos and took permission to go to the terrace. The incident occurred few minutes after she went to the terrace.” The final rites were performed on Monday. An accidental death report has been filed.
