Property registry defaulters face allotment cancellation

Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will cancel the property allotments to people who fail to complete their registry despite repeated notices. LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar issued instructions to this effect on Wednesday.

Kumar directed LDA officials to prepare a proposal for the cancellation of allotments within a week and take strict action against those who continue to delay the process.

During the review meeting, officials found that 235 allottees under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Sharda Nagar Extension and Basant Kunj scheme have deposited the full payment but have not applied for property registration.

Similarly, 300 other allottees who have booked flats in various apartment projects and completed their payments have not initiated the registry process. The issue also extends to 40 properties in Gomti Nagar Extension, 51 in Jankipuram and Jankipuram Extension, 93 in Kanpur Road Scheme, 135 in Basantkunj, seven rental properties, and around 50 commercial and bulk sale properties, where allottees have not yet applied for registration despite paying the entire amount.

Special registry camp

To facilitate the pending registrations, LDA is conducting a special registration camp from March 24 to March 29 at its office here. In this camp, LDA officials and staff are assisting allottees by preparing registry files on the spot. To further expedite the process, registry department officials will also be present on April 2 and April 3 to complete the registration formalities.

On the third day of the special camp, 135 new applications were received, and 93 registry files were prepared, according to deputy secretary Madhavesh Kumar.

Now, pay house tax in just a few clicks

Property owners in Lucknow can get their house tax bills delivered to their WhatsApp and pay the amounts digitally instead of waiting in queues at Lucknow Municipal Corporation offices. LMC introduced the facility on Wednesday.

An LMC official said the service was aimed at simplifying the tax payment process. “Under the new system, LMC will send property-specific tax information through its official WhatsApp account,” he said.

The official said property owners could pay through UPI, net banking, debit, or credit cards. Upon a successful payment, an e-receipt will be generated for download.

First-time payers must register their property on the LMC website. By clicking on ‘Click here to Register your house,’ users can enter their mobile number and House ID. After receiving login credentials via SMS, users can set a new password and proceed with the payment. HTC
